January 6, 2002 I've just added a link to a new set of pages I'm working on detailing a "mini-vacation" taken to Disneyland California Resort in Anaheim, California. Even though January is my time to travel to Las Vegas for the CES convention, through a scheduling problem concerning my landlady, our house needed to be fumigated for termites in December, right after Christmas, so I booked two days at Disneyland, and had a wonderful time. I'm even willing to forgive my remarks concerning the DCA, because the California park even looks good at night, at Christmastime, and besides, the Electric Parade is badk at DCA. Travel in a plane is on the backburner for many people following Sept. 11, but that didn't stop them from visiting Disneyland, and the place was packed. Right now, I've put up a few photos, soon I intend to feature one of my internet movies. Enjoy. written july 2001 My travel plans this year have been stifled due to the increcible expense incurred after purchasing a (relatively) new automobile in 2000. Next will probably be Tanzania, in East Africa. This is the country with Mount Kilamanjaro, and the Serengeti plain. It just so happens I met a wonderful person who lives there through my latest lovesearch, and have a connection with the country. But I've always wanted to go there, and of course exercise my insistence that I lived in Africa (near the Serengeti) in another life. That would explain my Africa Dream. I still want to travel to Hungary, the land of my ancestry. I also had a connection in Budapest with someone from the last lovesearch, but it didn't work out. The idea of Budapest, which basically hasn't changed since before WWII (the communists never "modernized the city" , thank God) really thrills my sense of history. Also want to go to Amsterdam, Holland. And of course London, England has been a destination since as far back as I can remember. (probably since at least when I saw the original 1938 version of Robin Hood on tv when I was a child.) written april 2001 Oh, thought I'd add a few words about the Disney California Adventure. Words like boring, tedious, the most mundane place on earth. Soon to come: Perhaps. My trip to Pasadena's Huntington Library and Art Gallery.. original text The face of Travel is Changing. I have added some photographs taken on my Arizona trip. First up is the Grand Canyon, a truly magnificent hole in the ground. This Travel Page is a relatively new page, and if anybody's listening, I needed a new link to put all that Nantucket stuff and the new pix about Vegas, and just about anyplace else I go and photograph, and want to impart wisdom about , if anyone is listening or not. If you have been, then please sign that there guestbook, you know I'm gonna use this space to rant about the fact that I cruise all these websites, and really, when I really like something, I do sign the guestbook, just to let the webmaster who slaved away for hours and hours know that hey, there is someone who does look at these personal pages. I feel they are the backbone of the web, and the main reason why I'm interested in spending time here at all. Hey, I have a life. So, if you come across this, even if you're one of my "regulars." (I love saying that, like the 'readers' I had in highskool.) Sign the damn guestbook. I put them up on all my interesting pages and no one ever signs them. This is really discouraging, let me tell you, and I will. I slave for hours and hours trying to put together a goodlooking and hopefully interesting and entertaining page, and no one (if anyone is even listening) signs in. I go to other pages and there all kind of interesting inscriptions and dedications. I know I get hits, the counter keeps ticking, and I know I'm not visiting my own site that many times. (Well, they said I was a bit conceited, so maybe I am. I'll start signing the guestbooks, next, and then I'll think I'm talking to myself.) Travel is something I am truly discovering late in life, and I find I do like to spend time in a foreign place (like Las Vegas) in a hotel room, meeting new people whom I will never see again, and acting like they're old freinds. It is indeed a thrill to wonder at the sheer scope of Nature's and Mankind's acheivements. As usual, I'll put the links over to the left as I get them put up. The first page is simply nighttime scenes in Vegas, taken Jan. 8 while attending CES. Each travel destination will have it's own site, eventually,if everything works out, and this page will be the link to all those many sites. (I hope there are many.) I am disappointed in my video of Vegas, I shot lots of footage, but nothing really spectacular, and I spent my three days in the same two block area. (Believe me there was a lot to see even in that small a place.) The Nantucket site is the same as I had on the Homepage for a long while. Time I took that down off of that page. If you came upon this for the first time, and are put off by all this prostlytizing, then go with God, please. The mark of true inspiration is to just let the words pour, and hope for the best. Out of the motor mouths of babes, and all that. Bon Voyage, MFNyiri 2/2/00 |
